TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y.—The Tompkins County Health Department is searching for a dog that bit someone in the Cass Park skating rink parking lot in Ithaca on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020 at around 2:15 p.m.
The health department described the dog as a black and white, long-haired dog, calling it “possibly a border collie.” There was another dog with a similar description, and they were accompanied by a person wearing a “bright blue winter jacket and aviator glasses, with either dark hair or a dark, knit cap.”
The dog is being sought for a health evaluation and to ensure its vaccination status. Once the dog is located and examined, rabies infection can be ruled out and post-exposure treatment won’t be necessary for the bite victim.
