Huron Perth Public Health is looking for the owner of a large dog that bit a child Friday night near the pathway to Gallery Stratford between Upper and Lower Queens Park in Stratford.
In a press release issued Saturday morning, officials said the biting occurred at around 8:30 p.m. and the dog involved was described as being a large breed — possibly a German Shepherd. The dog is said to have been running off-leash and was accompanied by a man wearing a hat and face mask.
The health unit is hoping to speak with the owner to check if the dog has up-to-date rabies vaccinations, which is vital to managing treatment of the child who was bitten.
Huron Perth Public Health is reminding residents to always obtain the contact information of the owners of an animal that bites a person.
Anyone with information about this dog or its owner should contact Huron Perth Public Health at 1-888-221-2133 ext. 2245.
