Training camp is officially underway for all NBA teams, including the Miami Heat. Basketball is finally back, although it may not seem like it for fans.

Miami Heat fans can’t actually watch their favorite team play again until preseason begins on October 4, but players are back in the gym, as of yesterday.

Both Coach Spoelstra and PJ Tucker, one of the notable additions from this offseason, commented on Miami’s first practice. Both quotes should get Miami Heat fans very excited.

Tucker talked about the atmosphere at practice. He said that “it’s a pound man. A dog pound for sure.” This mentality fits right into what Heat Culture is all about.

These sorts of quotes are always fun to hear from a fan’s perspective. At the very least, they give some insight into what the team’s dynamic will be like for the upcoming season.

However, as much as training camp is great for players to get in their rhythm, it’s also about filling out the roster. This is especially important for the Miami Heat considering they still have an open roster spot.

So far this season, the Miami Heat have four players on training camp deals. Each of them also played for their Summer League team this offseason.

Miami signed Dru Smith, Micah Potter, Javonte Smith, and DJ Stewart to training camp deals. Each of them possesses a different skillset that could be of use to the Miami Heat.

Although fans won’t be able to watch training camp, what should they know about these four players? What could each one do in training camp to earn their spot on the roster?
