It’s a known fact: A dog is man’s best friend, but what happens when man spoils his best friend?
UK-based custom pet gift shop Yappy.com recently released a report on the most spoiled doggos in the U.S. Who gets the blue ribbon? Well, nationwide, it’s the doberman.
Across Texas, we love our Japanese shibas. The report calls these pups “gold diggers,” as the breed is “the most likely to be spoiled with treats, toys, and accessories by their adoring Texan owners.” But, considering shibas can cost $2,000, you’re likely going to need that gold just to adopt your new pal.
In Houston, however, we’re a little cheaper with our most spoiled pooch: the boxer. Per the report, “Despite their sizable stature, this breed loves to think of itself as a lapdog – just don’t mind the dribble!”
To get these canine results, Yappy looked at 300 popular dog breeds across 450,000 pet profiles on its website.
Of course, if you’re shopping on Yappy, which sells personalized items like mugs, pillows, and books (your pup can have it’s very own search-and-find adventure, à la I-Spy!), you probably already spoil your pet, no matter the breed. That’s okay, though, we at Houstonia fully support pampering your pooches.
And if you’re wondering, because we’re sure you are, the most popular breeds in Houston are English bulldog, mini Schnauzer, American pit bull terrier, great dane, and goldendoodle (in that order), according to pet-sitter and dog-walking app Rover.
The most popular dog names in Houston? Max and Bella.
